Milestones

Ian has a way of reaching certain milestones on his month birthdays. At 8 months, he became an expert "commando" crawler. He pulls himself along by his elbows, getting across the room faster than you'd think possible. He's getting good at going from flat on his belly up to a sitting position, as well. All this mobility makes Ian a happy boy.

He also...drumroll...decided it's time to let his poor Mama sleep. Twice now, he hasn't bothered to wake up to nurse in the middle of the night. That means I had my first 8 straight hours of sleep in over 8 months!

Choppers

We previously reported on "Tooth Number One" (Blog Ian, March 30, 2004). Since then, a second tooth sprouted right next to it and now Ian's working on a third tooth. This time it's poking through the upper gums.

As visual evidence we offer these photos, taken with our new digital camera (the Olympus Camedia C-5060 Wide Zoom, a 50th birthday present from Ian's dad to himself):

A detail from the above:

Also seen in this photo is a book given Ian by his friend Lang Thompson. Although Ian is not yet an avid reader, he does like to chew on the pages.

Ready for a Sippy Cup

We suspect Ian is ready to start using a sippy cup.

We already know he loves sweet potatoes, peas and carrots.
