The Little Family Reunited

Just in time for Christmas, the little Butler-Galbraith family has been united.


Marysia and Ian arrived at the Birmingham airport this afternoon, having jetted in from LaGuardia. I met them and whisked them home where Ian immediately started reaquainting himself with toys he hadn't seen in five months.

He was quite agog.

A little later we had take-out Mexican food from a favorite spot here in town and began the process of getting to know each other again.

Ah, but it's good to have everyone home safe and sound.

On the Road... Er... In the Sky... Again

Marysia and Ian successfully returned to North America today, flying from Kraków through Milan to New York (where she's visiting her mom and Ian's Babcia). A much easier trip than the flight out, which featured 8 hours in the Paris airport and a night in a Paris hotel due to a missed connection. But still, she sounded exhausted when I talked to her on the phone.

They'll fly to 'Bama on Monday. It'll be so good to get them home.

Marysia and Ian, Soon to Leave Poland

Here's what may turn out to be one of the last photos of Ian and his mama in Poland.


It was taken by our friend, Beata, in Marysia's Kraków apartment. They'll be leaving that cozy little home on Thursday, 15 December 2005, and jetting east to New York. First, they'll spend four days on Long Island with his Babcia and then they'll continue jetting east, to Alabama.

Just in time for Christmas! I wonder what Santa will bring Ian and Marysia!

Ian Loves Train Tracks

Ian has lately become a big fan of trains and, more specifically, of train tracks. So, you can imagine his glee when he visited the Kraków Museum of Transportation with his mama and his uncle Chris and got to sit on train tracks.

Fortunately, Chris had his camera and snapped these pics.
